Multicanal changes its brand in Uruguay and launches HD
The Uruguayan cable operator Multicanal, owned by the Argentine Clar?n Group, changed its name by Cablevisi?n, as it happened in Argentina after both companies' merger. Together with the brand change, new services were added such as HD, among others.
The HG platform includes six channels for USD 10 monthly fee, and its installation is offered at USD 99. In turn, the company launched its so-called Max service, which enables users to record, pause, rewind and store up to 150 programming hours. Additionally, subscribers can enter "virtual branch" site through the web that enables the administration of hired services. Therefore, the affiliate in Uruguay now has the same product offer as its headquarters' in Argentina, though in such country there are nine HD channels, and some others are to be added before year end. In addition to the aforementioned, VOD will be launched soon.
"As from now, we are called Cablevisi?n, thus integrating one of the main Latin American cable TV companies. This new start stems from years of investment and constant technological innovation", Guillermo Valente, Cablevisi?n Uruguay CEO, pointed out through a press release.
According to La Rep?blica de Uruguay newspaper, Valente highlighted that within the next four years, the company will invest USD 25 millions. "Everything done by Multicanal all along these years, in the digital era, accounted for a USD 19 million investment", he added.
Cablevisi?n is the main cable operator in Uruguay. As of June closing, the company recorded 101,000 subscribers. It operates in Montevideo and in the departments of Salto, Paysand?, Artigas, Rivera, Tacuaremb? (including Paso de los Toros), San José and Canelones. Cablevisi?n Argentina also has operates in Paraguay.
