South Korean telco SK Broadband added 5,147 subscribers for its IPTV service 'Broad&TV' in September to reach a total of 879,805 customers by the end of the month.
The company has suffered slight dips in subscriber numbers for its IPTV service in preceding months, so last month marked a welcome return to gains for the telco. SK Broadband added 8,790 broadband customers in September to reach a total of 3,925mn subscribers.
SK Broadband (previously known as Hanaro Telecom) launched its IPTV in 2006 under the name of 'Hana TV', offering around 90 channels. The company expects to break even with its IPTV service in 2011, when it aims to reach 2mn subscribers, but conceded earlier this year that this target may be difficult to meet as a result of increased competition.
