Sky viewers to enjoy The Horticultural Channel from March 2011
The Horticultural Channel will be broadcast on Information TV from next March.
Sky's digital TV subscribers can look forward to tuning into a new gardening-based micro-channel, which is due to launch next year.
The Horticultural Channel will broadcast on the Information TV channel, which can be found at position 166 in the Sky TV planner and 402 on Freesat, when it hits screens for the first time on March 6th 2011, reports Digital Spy.
It will be available to watch from 09:00 on Sunday mornings, with all shows then repeated on Information TV the following Friday.
Sean James Cameron, managing director of Interfusion Films - which has already started producing content for the station - claimed there is demand for a channel that focuses on allotment gardening and people growing their own food.
"There has been a vast gap in the UK gardening television schedules for such a programme, which mainstream broadcasters have ignored," Mr Cameron remarked.
Earlier this month, The Horticultural Channel put out an appeal to gardeners to send in video tips for growing their own produce.
These clips may be included in some of its programmes.
