The Polish public broadcaster TVP is pushing ahead with its digitisation plans despite all the upheavals caused by yet another change in senior management at the station.
Rzeczpospolita reports that the first TVP channels on the country’s
third multiplex, which has been allocated exclusively to the station, will appear on October 27 this year.
The third multiplex is operated by EmiTel and will cover four voivodships, thereby reaching at least 58% of the population. It should achieve complete national coverage by May 2014.
TVP’s new management also have to address the issue of TVP’s agreement with SES Astra, which was extended by a previous president (Piotr Farfal) a year ago.
The agreement has caused controversy in some quarters and negotiations between the two parties are ongoing. At this stage it is understood that TVP has no plans to resurrect its ill-fated DTH platform project.
