Last week Warner Bros rejected Apple’s IPTV content offer, and this week NBC Universal has come to the same conclusion – offering content for 99 cents isn’t good for their business.
However a lot of companies beg to differ and Apple TV has already signed up News Corp.’s Fox, The Walt Disney Co.’s ABC, ABC Family and Disney Channel and BBC America to its cheap content deal.
Apple recently announced a $99 version of its IPTV set-top box, and plans to offer 99-cent show rentals on iTunes.
NBC Universal believes that the deal would “devalue” its content.
According to Reuters News agency News Corp is also tentative about the arrangement, with President Chase Carey saying at a Goldman Saches investor conference that Fox content was being made available on Apple TV as a short term test.
