Via is much anticipated 'Play' software, the US visual computing technology specialist Nvidia has enabled users to connect their 3D Vision enabled notebooks and desktops to 3D enabled HDTVs.
NVIDIA's system enables consumers to watch Blu-ray films on 3D HDTVs in full 1080p stereoscopic 3D and play around 500 compatible 3D video games. Users can also view 3D photos.
Before the arrival of Play, Nvidia 3D Vision technology was rather specialised in that it combined the use of GPU, special 3D glasses and driver software to deliver stereoscopic 3D effects only on compatible monitors with high refresh rates.
NVIDIA 3DTV Play software is available as a free upgrade for all 3D Vision PC or notebook owners. Alternately, you can get it preconfigured on 3DTV Play PCs or available to buy from this November as an upgrade for PCs or notebooks with NVIDIA GeForce GPU and Microsoft Windows 7.
Commenting on their new software, Phil Eisler, general manager of 3D Vision at NVIDIA commented: "3D Games, video and photos on a big screen 3D HDTV is an amazing experience. GeForce PCs with 3DTV Play software enable users to play nearly 500 games on a 3D TV. That’s far more than any other platform."
