Tomorrow, October 12, at 12 o’clock Paris time, France 24 will launch its 24/7 Arabic channel.
France 24′s Arabic channel grew from four hours a day in April 2007 to 10 hours a day two years later. Now, the channel goes 24/7.
“For us at France 24, this will be a very important day, because 300 million people speak Arabic,” said Alain de Pouzilhac, CEO of France 24. “We have to speak Arabic if we want people to listen to us.”
As with the original France 24, which launched in 2006, its mission is the give the world a French perspective of the news as an alternative to the American view as presented by CNN.
