Former Endemol executive Liz Mills has launched MillsyMac, a London-based production company specialising in factual entertainment and documentaries.
The former head of reality television at Endemol UK, and founder of the Top TV Training Academy, she missed making programmes since quitting Endemol in 2004 and has been drawn back into production.
"I dipped my toe in the water with a job at (small prodco) Transparent Television last year and it made me rethink the creative side of making programmes," she said.
Although Mills acknowledged that the current climate is a challenging one for new prodcos, she said talks were underway with UK public broadcasters over commissions and the firm has secured development money.
"It's tough at the moment but I think it's always been tough," said Mills. "When I started out there were only five broadcasters and now it's so busy out there. There is a lot more international scope from all the agreements that have come in, and so many more channels."
While at Transparent Television, Mills was commissioned by BBC2 to exec-produce Restoration Roadshow, a 26-episode reality series that aired on the channel this summer.
Mills previously launched Pet Rescue and The Salon for Endemol, and while executive producer at the BBC, oversaw Crimewatch UK and other factual programmes.
