RASCOM-QAF1R at target position of 2.8 E
New African telecommunications satellite
RASCOM-QAF1R was parked at its planned orbital position 2.8 degree east, where it soon will replace the satellite RASCOM-QAF1. He is already at the end of his short life. Satellite served only three years.
Satellite RASCOM-QAF1R features a total of 12 transponders in Ku and another eight in the C band. Its signal coverage of the entire African continent, a part of Europe and the Middle East. Life expectancy of a new space system is 15 years. Signals from the new satellite will be taken from the C zone in the region of Central Europe.
