Megacable's digital subscriber base reaches 24,63%
As of 3Q10, Megacable, the main Mexican cable operator, recorded 1,75 million subscribers, which accounts for a 13% growth as compared with the same period in 2009. Digital subscriber base recorded 430,081 users, which accounts for the 24.63% of the total base. Digital client annual increase amounted to the 58%.
According to a quarterly report, the operator closed September with 1,746,102 subscribers. In 2009, such figure amounted to 1,544,968. In a year, the company added 158,000 digital users out of a total of over 201,000 clients added during such period. In the previous quarter, the digital subscriber base amounted to 316,315 whereas in September, 2009, the digital subscriber base recorded 271,731 clients.
As from the 2Q10, the company added 18,734 subscribers. Such figure is low as compared with the 120,000 users recorded as of June closing. However, such growth had been fostered by the acquisition of Omnicable, which enabled Megacable to add the 62,000 of the operator. In June, the company started a digitalization program in the main six cities of coverage.
