LONDON: UKTV's Alibi has picked up the exclusive pay-TV rights to the ABC Studios forensic crime drama Body of Proof, starring Dana Delany.
The 13x1-hour series will be featured as part of Alibi's first quarter schedule for 2011. The show stars Delany (Desperate Housewives) as Dr. Megan Hunt, a neurosurgeon turned medical examiner.
Alibi’s channel head, Steve Hornsey, said: "As TV’s ultimate compendium of crime drama, Alibi aims to select the very best series in the genre from around the globe. Body of Proof is exactly that. A stand out show that promises to be a huge hit in the U.S., Body of Proof means more premium and exclusive content for the channel—and more thrilling and engaging viewing for our audience.”
UKTV’s acquisitions manager, Alexandra Finlay, added: “We are delighted to have secured the U.K. pay-TV premiere rights to Body of Proof for Alibi. As one of the most anticipated new procedurals of this year's screenings, and headlined by the fabulous Dana Delany, the show will be sure to excite Alibi's viewers.”
Catherine Powell, the senior VP and general manager of media distribution at The Walt Disney Company EMEA, commented: “Body of Proof is an exciting show, and we're pleased to be launching it on Alibi. With an appealing and well-known lead in Dana Delany, and its strong writing and production pedigree, it has attracted international interest right from pilot stage.”
