DLA optimizes VOD and gets ready for OTT
According to what Bruno Dur?n, Affiliate Services and Sales VP told NexTV Latam, with the purpose of making its VOD and PPV more appealing in the region, the Latin American aggregator and integrator DLA agreed with Universal Pictures, Paramount and Disney studios to reduce its content broadcasting window over such platform on the same DVD release, in some cases, and up to 30 days later, in other cases. Moreover, the company's and Mixplay's VOD through Internet platform is already operational and DLA is holding conversations with several Pay-TV operators of the region.
"Habitually, VOD and PPV content broadcasting window includes 90 days", Dur?n explained. Thanks to the new agreement, "in November, there will be three movies to be seen on the same day, two movies to be seen over 30 days and the rest will be broadcasted in the traditional 90-day window", he stated. "In the future windows will tend to get increasingly closer".
On the other hand, the company is ready to offer VOD through OTT, thanks to its synergy union with the video portal Mixplay, which, as DLA, belongs to Claxson Group. Therefore, movies provided by DLA in VOD and PPV will be part of the two business models forecasted for such platform: On one hand, subscribers will have access to the material directly through Internet, from any PC. On the other hand, users will see such material on their TV sets, through the Pay-TV operator's STB connected to cable modem.
DLA is present in 63 operations in 25 Latin American countries. Its VOD service is rendered to 24 operators of the region while PPV is rendered in 19 operators. Moreover, the company is the owner and programmer of channels Concert Channel (in HD and standard definition) and Movietrax. Its portfolio includes over 40 channels and, 50 music channels and more than 15,000 hours of HD and standard definition content generated by the main Hollywood studios and independent providers. DLA's products and services are present in the 95% of Latin American digital operations.
