Here's the situation: Thursday night's installment of
MTV's Jersey Shore scored its series high among viewers and its top mark against its network's key
Demo group.
The Aug. 26 telecast about the South Beach housemates averaged a series-best 5.8 million watchers, according to Nielsen live+ same-day data. The performance eclipsed the 5.5 million that tuned in the Aug. 19 and Aug. 12 installments, according to MTV officials.
Moreover, the Aug. 26 show delivered a 5.5 rating against MTV's preferred persons 12-to-34 set. That marked the third straight week Jersey Shore built on that demo, up from a 5.4 and 5.3 on Aug. 19 and Aug. 12, respectively.
MTV officials said the sophomore season of the reality show is the No. 1 show with that group across all TV this summer and has recorded cable's five best deliveries in 2010 against the demo.
