Trcae Sports launches on Sky in the UK on Monday, April 16, to be followed by the launch on Mutlichoice in Africa on Tuesday, April 17.
Group chairman and CEO Olivier Laouchez said “the launch of Trace Sports in Africa is a major milestone for our group. Trace Sports will bring the DStv audience a great mix of content where sport meets glamour, where athletes reveal their real life and personality. We are excited to be launching the channel exactly 100 days before the Olympics as we believe that our content will allow DStv subscribers to connect more with featured Olympians.”
Trace Sports claims to bring “a new-format channel dedicated to revealing intimate behind-the-scenes stories of the world’s favourite sporting heroes.” The channel’s programming includes 100 days to go, a special series in the run up to the Olympic Games and lifestyle magazine Number 5 presented by Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand.
Trace Sports is available in 70 countries and plans to reach over 30 million subscribers by the end of 2012.
