Kicking off on Oct. 25, Time Warner Cable customers will be able to access a simulcast of ESPN, including its Monday Night Football matchup between the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys, via an Authenticated Internet tconnection, as part of a recent carriage renewal pact between the parties.
The rollout of authenticated versions of ESPN2, ESPNU and a pair of college football and basketball highlights services, Goal Line and Buzzer Beaters, are expected to follow in early December.
Sean Bratches, ESPN executive vice president of affiliate sales and marketing, said the sports programmer, is eyeing the authentication bow for those services on or around Dec. 5.
Staggered debuts of ESPN's version of the "TV Everywhere" services are also expected to commence for Bright House Networks and Verizon FiOS subscribers on Jan. 18, Bratches said in an interview
Asked about other potential subscribers for Goal Line, which kicked off on Time Warner and Bright House on Sept. 4 and with Verizon FiOS on Oct. 9, and the upcoming Buzzer Beaters, Bratches said ESPN is taking a "cadenced approach" to the services with distributors during their "renewal cycles."
As part of a recently concluded carriage extension between ESPN and Time Warner Cable, beginning Oct. 25, the No. 2 MSO's customers that receive ESPN as part of their video subscription will have access to a live simulcast of ESPN on their computers, as well as access to broadband service ESPN3.com. (Time Warner Cable negotiates programming deals for Bright House.)
To preregister, Time Warner Cable customers can go to h**p://myservices.timewarnercable.com. Come Monday, customers can also go directly to ESPNnetworks.com or ESPN3.com to register or sign in and view the programming.
At launch, the new authenticated service will give TWC subscribers the opportunity to watch ESPN's linear network online, before ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN Goal Line and ESPN Buzzer Beater will also be offered through the same process, as well as on other Internet-enabled devices such as mobile phones and tablets.
Consumers can access the channels through a centralized Web site, ESPNnetworks.com.
