TDF has launched its ‘360 degrees’ project to study all of the mobile TV broadcasting standards available, writes Les Echos. The company will hold several meetings with telecommunication operators, institutional partners and TV channels. The project could lead to a technology recommendation at the start of next year.
Although the French government set DVB-H as the personal mobile TV standard back in 2007, various actors have expressed doubts over the technology. TDF has seriously considered Qualcomm’s less expensive MediaFLO system, among others. TDF and MVNO Virgin Mobile France have joined forces to launch a mobile TV service before the end of 2011.
