The Libyan Jamahiriya Broadcasting Corporation (LJBC) recently sued a Toronto resident named Abdalla Saleh in US District Court for Northern California, alleging copyright infringement. The seven-page lawsuit, filed on 20 August, said Mr Saleh allegedly uploaded six videos to YouTube and one to blip.tv that included “numerous copyrighted works owned by” LJBC.
All of the videos appear to have been taken down. However, the video posted to blip.tv was titled “Gaddafi Crimes Against Humanity.” The LJBC is seeking unspecific amounts of monetary damages and a declaration that Saleh “willfully infringed LJBC’s copyrights,” among other things.
