UPC Romania has revamped its offer in order to compete more effectively with its rivals RCS/RDS and Romtelecom.
It is now allowing its subscribers to create their own double or triple play packages, allowing for maximum flexibility. In practice, this means that they can opt for internet access at speeds of 3, 15 or 25 Mbps, with subscription fees reduced by 30%.
They are also being offered digital TV for the same price as analogue TV, with one package – Optim – costing RON20 (€4.70) a month, excluding VAT, to receive.
Although UPC has been gaining digital cable subscribers (it claimed 254,000 as of the end of Q2), its overall TV subscriber total has been falling.
RCS/RDS is Romania’s leading cable operator, while Romtelecom has a fast-growing cable arm named NextGen.
