Eutelsat opens up satellite broadband in Hungary
May 9, 2012 10.21 Europe/London By Robert Briel
Eutelsat has sealed a distribution agreement between its Skylogic subsidiary and RG Networks, making satellite broadband available via Ka-Sat across Hungary.
RG Networks, a subsidiary of the Hungarian IT specialist RG Hungary, launched services via Ka-Sat in Hungary at the beginning of this month under the vanNET brand.
RG Networks’ set ambition is to respond to the Hungarian government’s commitment to provide fast internet for all citizens by end 2013, in line with the European Union Directive. RG Networks is committed by this time to connecting more than 2,000 users with satellite broadband via Ka-Sat, delivering download speed up to 10Mbps and upload speeds up to 4 Mbps.
Szabolcs Lengvarszky, COO of RG Networks commented: “With this new agreement we now have the key to immediate access to the highest quality satellite broadband service for homes and businesses in Hungary. With KA-SAT, we are positioned to provide nationwide coverage and can accelerate the pace of broadband roll-out.”
“Our Ka-Sat satellite and new-generation user equipment are the ideal broadband service for Hungarian customers, particularly in more rural and difficult to reach areas of the country. We are delighted to work with RG Networks to help Hungary achieve the target of broadband for all,” said Achille De Tommaso, CEO of Skylogic.
