Belgium-based Zappware has announced the deployment of its managed over-the-top (OTT) solution on the Serbian, Slovenian, and Bosnian markets.

Serbian cable operator SBB and Telemach, a cable operator in Slovenia and in Bosnia & Herzegovina, launched the service under the D3 Go brand. The solution features linear TV programming and is currently available to the customers of SBB and Telemach. The solution will also enable these operators to offer their programming to communities outside their traditional cable footprint.

Zappware developed the end-to-end system for SBB and Telemach using its TwinTV product, which delivers a digital TV experience on a broad range of second-screen devices, including smart phones, tablets and PCs.

TwinTV is driven by Zappware’s proprietary iView application delivery platform, a scalable, back-end solution that allows operators to manage the digital TV experience using a centralized administration user interface.

“We’ve successfully deployed platforms driven by iView all over Europe and it’s proven to be one of the most innovative application delivery mechanisms in the market,” said Patrick Vos, CEO of Zappware. “This OTT solution for SBB and Telemach will represent a key milestone for us, as it demonstrates a level of uncommon flexibility for interactive TV solutions – the ability to deliver advanced services via a managed network or via the open internet.”

Zappware’s scalable deployment delivers more than 100 channels of linear programming to SBB and Telemach customers connected to the system via PCs (Windows, Mac, Linux), Android-powered smart phones and tablets, and Apple iPhones, iPads, and iPods. The comprehensive system also includes components from Cisco, Verimatrix, NXP Software, Anevia and Envivio.

“Zappware’s OTT solution will enable us to offer our customers the ability to watch their favourite content wherever they want,” said Victoriya Boklag, deputy CEO of SBB. “Moreover, this unified offering that combines traditional delivery over our managed network with OTT gives us now tremendous possibilities to provide our services to communities outside our footprint across different types of networks and devices.”
