Australia's iiNet launches fetchtv 1
28.10.10
Australian ISP iiNet has launched fetchtv 1, a streamlined version of its IPTV service fetchtv 2, which is available to all of its broadband customers regardless of their connection speed.
Customers of the new streamlined IPTV service get on-demand access to the latest release movies from major Hollywood studios, all local digital free-to-air channels, and a set-top box with 1 TB of storage. To coincide with the launch, iiNet has waived the normal AUD 99 (US$ 97) set-up fee for all new subscriptions of fetchtv 1 or fetchtv 2 - which cost AUD 14.95 and AUD 29.95 per month respectively.
“iiNet fetchtv 1 means all our customers can now access movies on-demand and quota-free. Coupled with Fetchtv’s state-of-the-art set top box, we think this makes compelling value for only AUD 14.95 a month,” said iiNet’s Chief Technology Officer, Greg Bader. “With three digital tuners and one terabyte of storage, not only is it possible to record two free-to-air TV channels while watching a third, there’s enough memory to store hours of your favourite shows.”
iiNet launched the full version of its IPTV service last April.
