Tele2 Netherlands has started offering a IPTV service to customers over its VDSL network. The company announced the plans in late August, when its plans to resell analogue cable TV were scuppered by a court ruling over the regulatory basis for the service. Tele2 said the new package targets demanding customers interested in fast internet and an offering of TV with time-shift features, catch-up TV, recent films and a clear programming guide. The triple-play package with TV, broadband and telephony will cost EUR 34.95 per month the first year, and then go up to EUR 39.95. Tele2 said over 1.5 million households can now receive its VDSL service, ahead of its initial projections at the launch in August 2009 for 1 million households by end-2010. The company is looking at the possibility of rolling out the 50Mbps service further, as well as using pair bonding to increase the speed to 100Mbps.
