Primus Telecom "not close" to signing with FetchTV
18.10.10
The Australian subsidiary of Primus Telecom has confirmed that it is in talks with local white label IPTV service FetchTV, but is "not in a rush" to become the latter's latest customer, according to reports in local newspaper The Australian.
Ravi Bhatia, CEO of Primus Telecom, is quoted as saying: "We've had discussions [with FetchTV]. We're not close to signing". He is also reported as saying that while FetchTV offers a good product, he has doubts that the consumer proposition is strong enough: "The fundamental issue is that I think the product from a consumer point of view is still evolving,'' he said. "From what I've seen the numbers (of people signing up) have not been large.''
FetchTV is a "pure" IPTV service that offers the full range of free-to-air digital channels, twenty leading subscription channels, including six video-on-demand channels, thirty movies every month, access to new-release pay-per-view movies, five specialty subscription channels, and interactive applications and games. So far three Australian ISPs have signed carriage deals with FetchTV: iiNet, Internode and Adam Internet.
