Rajya Sabha, the upper house of India’s Parliament, plans to launch an independent TV channel to cover its proceedings from 7 November, when the house is expected to sit again
The channel comes four years after a similar move saw independent broadcasts commence from the lower house of parliament. Doordarshan Lok Sabha was then replaced by Lok Sabha TV, a 24 hour channel which broadcasts in Hindi and English.
The Rajya Sabha proceedings are currently broadcast by a Doordarshan channel.
