US doc strand Nova and UK broadcaster Channel 4 are coproducing an hour-long documentary about the trapped Chilean miners, which Mentorn International will distribute at Mipcom.
The documentary is being made by Tinopolis-owned Pioneer Productions and follows the story of the 33 workers who have been trapped in a copper mine since its collapse in Chile on August 5.
"In addition to the compelling human story, Nova is interested in giving viewers a more in-depth understanding of the incredible engineering feats and scientific concepts being employed in the rescue operation, as well as the risks involved in these unfolding events," said Nova exec producer Howard Swartz.
The doc was ordered by C4's science commissioning editor David Glover and the producer for Pioneer is William Hicklin, with Pioneer MD Stuart Carter exec producing.
