Olive Dreams is a new feature-length animated film from the Holy Land about a Palestinian family struggling to stay together during the Israeli occupation of Gaza.Based on a true story, painstakingly hand-drawn from historical photographs, Olive Dreams tells the story of a young Palestinian boy, Fares, who grows up in constant fear of being taken away by soldiers who raid his town in the middle of the night.Soon Fares falls behind in his schoolwork and loses interest in Karate practice with little hope of ever beating the older boys twice his size. It's only when the family takes a trip to Al-Aqsa that he discovers the truth about what happened to his Grandpa and the family farm on the eve of the Nekbah so many years ago.Slowly, Fares starts to believe in himself again and by keeping up with his prayers he starts to piece together meaning in the face of endless violence, devoting himself to helping his family not only with how to survive but how to triumph.
