Consumers remain confused by subscription HDTV
According to a Populus poll commissioned by TVonics, confusion still reigns over in the UK whether or not its necessary to pay a subscription based service in order to watch and record HD TV.
When asked “What monthly subscription charge do you need to pay in order to watch and record HDTV channels like BBC HD and ITV HD?”, less than half of all 2,031 adults surveyed (42 per cent) knew that it’s not necessary to pay a monthly subscription in order to watch and record HD TV programmes, including 51 per cent of men and 32 per cent of women.
Of the remaining respondents – 15 per cent thought a subscription was required in order to watch HD TV, including 7 per cent who thought it was necessary to pay more than £10 per month. Just under half (43 per cent) admitted to not knowing what monthly subscription charge, if any, was required to watch and record HD TV.
“Its clear from the findings that there is still a majority of Consumers who are confused by the fact that it’s not necessary to pay a subscription to watch and record Freeview HD TV,” said Andy Carr, CTO, TVonics.
