IBC 2010 – AMSTERDAM. Turkey’s only satellite and cable TV operator, Turksat, has announced it is planning to launch its new satellites, Turksat 4A and Turksat 4B, within the first quarter of 2013. Turksat 5A, Turkey’s fifth national communication satellite, is expected to be operational in 2015.
Turksat currently operates three satellites. Providing uplink services through its uplink stations located in Turkey, Germany and Cyprus, it distributes 250 national and over 50 international TV channels globally.
The operator launches two new products at this year’s IBC, Uydunet Sky, broadband via satellite, and Turksat Globe, a satellite photograph service.
