Germany’s incumbent telecom operator Deutsche Telekom has signed an agreement with Deutsche Annington Immobilien AG (DAIG) to launch a FTTH cable infrastructure.
During the first phase some 43,000 homes in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia will be connected, while eventually around 171,000 homes will be connected under the new agreement.
Deutsche Telekom will invest “hundreds of millions” of euros into the venture, which calls for the wiring of DAIG buildings in around 600 locations.
The new Telekom service will offer broadband speeds of up to 200 Mbps, up- and download, videostreaming in 3D and HD, and cloud solutions for music, videos, pictures and emails. The new cable infrastructure will also offer an extensive line-up of TV packages.
