ULA Postpones Cosmo-Skymed Launch; Secures 0 Million Credit Facility
October 29, 2010
United Launch Alliance (ULA) has postponed the Oct. 29 launch of its Delta 2 rocket carrying the fourth Cosmo-SkyMed spacecraft for 48 hours due to a problem related to the space booster, ULA announced Oct. 28.
Details of the space booster problem were not disclosed. Despite technical issues, ULA said that rainy weather conditions at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif., most likely would have postponed the Friday night launch for Saturday.
The Cosmo-SkyMed spacecraft Earth-imaging satellite, built by Thales Alenia Space for the Italian Space Agency and Italian Defense Ministry, will be used to observe natural disasters, assess coastal erosion, assist in farming and forestry and to create maps.
Separately, ULA announced it secured a $400 million, three-year senior unsecured revolving credit agreement with the help of U.S. banks BNP Paribas and Wells Fargo.
ULA said it would use the funds to provide more flexibility for service and capitalize on industry trends.
