Valerie (Amanda Seyfried), whose family has arranged a marriage for her with a wealthy man, has fallen for another man, Peter. Although the villagers offer up an animal sacrifice to the werewolf each month, his appetite has grown and he now desires human flesh. The villagers hire a famed werewolf hunter (Gary Oldman) to kill the beast, but first, he makes it clear that the werewolf is likely one of them - a human who only changes into a werewolf during a full moon.
