Californian prodco Hoff Productions is looking to make more programming for women with the appointment of two former Sony Pictures Television (SPT) execs.
Melanie Chilek and Gerette Allegra have joined Hoff as senior VPs of development and programming, and executive producers for domestic and international television.
They will oversee all programme development for the San Francisco firm, whose credits include National Geographic Channel's Hooked, Investigation Discovery's Extreme Forensics and Animal Planet's Weird, True & Freaky.
They will also expand the company's slate of female-skewing programmes, said the company's president, Michael Hoff. "Melanie and Gerette have a strong track record of developing and producing successful franchise properties that resonate with audiences all over the world," he said.
Most recently, Chilek was senior VP of development for SPT, where she redeveloped classic formats such as $25,000 Pyramid, The Dating Game, The Newlywed Game and The Gong Show.
Allegra, meanwhile, has recently exec produced Pregnant in Heels for Bravo's 2011 grid, and before that was VP of programming for SPT in New York, and counts The Ricki Lake Show among her credits.
