French media regulator CSA has extended the licence for the terrestrial VOD pilot that is currently taken place in Rouen. The tests taking place are held by transmitter company TDF and the Pay-TV DTT operator TV Numeric.
The authority has extended the current test licence till the end of November. The new service could offer both paid VOD services as well as catch-up TV services.
TDF is very keen to promote the terrestrial push-VOD model and has been trialing since 2008 with the first tests conducted in Paris in 2010, later followed by trials in Rouen and Evreux. .
By the way, in French terrestrial VOD is called SMAD, which stands for ‘services de médias audiovisuels à la demande’.
