There were 4.538mn subscribers to pay-TV services in Spain by the end of the second quarter of this year, up from 4.473mn at the end of March, according to a new report from communications regulator CMT.
Satellite TV services continued to dominate the market with 1.784mn subscribers by the end of June, but had fallen from 1.798mn subscribers at the end of March; cable TV services had a total of 1.306mn subscribers by the end of the second quarter of this year, up slightly from 1.298mn three months previously; IPTV had 831,043 subscribers by the end of June, up from 823,142 at the end of March; and mobile TV services had 425,757 subscribers, up from 362,990 at the end of March.
Telef?nica had a total of 746,682 subscribers for its IPTV service by the end of the second quarter of this year, giving an 18.2% share of the country's pay-TV market, up from 732,009 three months previously. Orange Espa?a's IPTV service trails far behind with 75,045 subscribers at the end of June, down from 78,613 at the end of March, while Jazztel also lost subscribers during the second quarter of this year, falling from 12,520 customers to 9,316 by the same comparison.
