Portuguese communications regulator Anacom has teamed up with consumer protection body DECO to allow the latter to carry out comparative tests on digital-terrestrial TV set-top boxes.
The comparative study, which will begin in November and continue over the next 18 months, is designed to provide information to consumers about the price, quality and functionality of set-tops avaialable on the market. The results will be published on the deco.proteste.pt and anacom.pt websites.
Portugal aims to complete digital switchover on April 26 2012. The DTT network currently covers about 86% of the country’s population.
