Canadian pubcaster CBC is reworking its hit radio series The Debators for television and will debut a small-screen version of the comical talkshow during its mid season early next year.
The show is a popular draw on the Ceeb's Radio One, in which comics hash out non-issues - are cats better pets than dogs, for example - with a mix a comedic and conventional logic. The pubcaster also sells the show, in full-season blocks, through iTunes.
A CBC representative says the network will shoot segments of the radio version and air them as fillers at the tail-end of news and sports programmes - similar to what it now does with some Just For Laughs footage.
