The sequel to the PSP will be out in time for Christmas next year, according to rumours currently flying around the net.
Apparently Sony has been talking extensively to developers about the PSP2, and games are already underway. VG247 states that a UK source “familiar with the matter” claimed: “We’ve been told it’s coming in late 2011.”
VG247 actually reported on the skinny of the handheld sequel back in May of this year. The PSP2 will apparently come with twin cameras front and back, a touchscreen as well as buttons, and will almost certainly work on a download model, wi-fi or possibly even 3G as well. It may also have a powerful four-core cell processor.
Of course Sony isn’t saying anything yet, and we can expect it to be announced at E3 next year. The PSP2 sounds like quite a piece of equipment, although it will be up against handheld rival the 3DS, which Nintendo has graced with three dimensional capabilities that don’t require glasses.
The 3DS should be out in the spring of 2011, which will give it the jump on Sony
