Finnish telco Elisa has formed a partnership with North America's National Hockey League (NHL) under which it secures the rights to deliver special NHL content to subscribers of its IPTV service 'Viihde'.
Under the terms of the deal, Elisa will be an official sponsor of the NHL in Finland, and will offer its customers access to the 'NHL GameCenter 2010' application via IPTV and smartphones, giving access to a wide range of content specifically focused on more than 30 Finnish-born players which play in the NHL, and offering highlights which involve Finnish players, including condensed versions of all NHL games shortly after the final whistle.
The NHL GameCenter application also includes live scores, live in-game stats for each team and player, a live ice tracker that shows the locations of goals, hits and saves on a virtual hockey rink, game photos, a full-season schedule, NHL standings, player profiles, archived results and stats for the current season, searchable content, a complete complement of video from the previous night's game, and more.
The telco has yet to release any subscriber data for its IPTV service.
