In the UK, Richard Desmond's Channel 5 has commissioned a magic-themed gameshow from Sony-backed Gogglebox Entertainment and GroupM Entertainment.
Impossible? (6x60'), fronted by illusionist and self-styled 'mind-reader' Philip Escoffey, will air on Channel 5 in the new year. It will have a couple taking on Escoffey "in a battle of wits," said the network.
Greg Barnett, C5's commissioning editor for daytime entertainment and soaps, said: "Impossible? is an unusual and intriguing format, combining all the elements of a high-stakes gameshow with the spectacle of magic and illusion."
The executive producers are Adam Wood and Mat Steiner from Gogglebox and Richard Foster and Tony Moulsdale from GroupM. Debbie Young will series produce. No word yet as to which firm will handle international rights.
