Russian TV channel RTR-Planeta resumed broadcasting September 15 in Tajikistan’s Sughd and Khatlon oblasts, Ferghana.ru reported. Technical difficulties reportedly prevented a nationwide roll-out. Tajikistan blocked the Russian state channel from Tajik airwaves in early 2009, citing unpaid debts. The station regained access to Tajikistan after an 18 August Sochi summit between Russian and Tajik presidents Dmitry Medvedev and Emomali Rakhmon. No other Russian channel can broadcast in Tajikistan. Others are viewable there only by satellite TV.
