The
Albanian DTH platform DigitAlb has extended its contract with
Eutelsat for capacity at the 16 degrees East neighbourhood by a further three years to June 2020.
DigitAlb was launched in December 2004 and currently has over 300,000 DTH subscribers in Albania and across Europe, as well as a further 100,000 via Albania’s DTT network, which retransmits channels delivered to towers by DigitAlb’s Eutelsat capacity.
DigitAlb employs five transponders at 16 degrees East to offer viewers 54 premium channels, five SuperSport channels (from SuperSport Albania) and a package comprised of eight HD channels.
The new agreement will allow it to offer more HD channel. It will also shortly start broadcasting or MPEG-4 than MPEG-2 channels in order to utilise bandwidth more efficiently.
