Advanced television services provider TiVo has joined the home entertainment networking standard MoCA as an associate member.
“TiVo has offered multi-room DVR functionality for years and sees the MoCA membership as a potential way to bring home networking to the next level,” said Jim Denney, vice president and general manager of product marketing for TiVo. “Integrating MoCA into our products will enable service providers to offer a simple home networking solution that offers unrivalled Quality of Service (QoS)”.
“HD DVRs are a vital component of the home entertainment system and TiVo’s membership substantiates the standard here in the United States,” added Charles Cerino, MoCA president.
The move is significant for both parties given TiVo’s current international development plans that include deployments in both the UK (Virgin Media) and Spain (ONO). MoCA has also been looking to expand its reach in both Europe and Asia.
