Dutch DTH platform Canal Digitaal Satelliet has certified a number of Samsung HDTVs with integrated satellite tuner and Common Interface slot. People can now watch the Canal Digitaal channels with just a CAM and smart card.
Owners of Samsung TV sets with built-in PVR can also directly record programmes with a single touch of a button. A full list of all certified Samsung models can be found here (on some browsers the PDF will start to download automatically).
Andrei Noppe, EVP, M7 Group SA, said in a statement: “The market for TVs with integrated tuners is a major growth market. We are proud to work with Samsung as the first television producer in the Netherlands and Belgium chooses for its TVs with officially certified satellite reception . The TVs are certified for use with our CI modules and smart cards.”
“We are very pleased that we are the first brand in the Netherlands that Canal Digital has certified,” said Hans de Jong, CTV product manager at Samsung Electronics Benelux. “On our HDTV’s with integrated satellite tuner, the Dutch TV viewers now enjoy a lot of HD broadcasts in the best quality. They have no more need for an additional box or remote control.”
