Real Madrid-Barcelona match to be watched by over 400 million

The Real Madrid-FC Barcelona football match to be held on 21 April will likely be seen by more than 400 million viewers worldwide, according to estimates by Mediapro, Spanish laSexta’s producer and owner of the pay-DTT Gol TV channel.
Mediapro produces the signal that will be used to transmit the match between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid which will be distributed throughout the world in high definition (HD) and 3D format for a variety of international channels. Proof of the massive interest in the match is that many countries had never previously requested customization of the television signal, said the producer.
So far, nine major channels have requested the service from Mediapro. Accredited media figures also exceed the record of the last meeting between Barca and Real, traditionally one of the most watched events worldwide, and not just in the sports arena.
Numerous channels will offer the match. In Europe, Barca-Madrid will be broadcast on channels including Gol TV (Spain), Canal + (France), Sky Sports (Italy) Sky Sports (England), UNAM (Germany), TV4 (Sweden), Sport TV (Portugal), NTV (Russia). In Asia, it will be shown on Al Jazeera Sports (Middle East), CCTV5 (China), Wowow (Japan); in America, ESPN and Direct TV (Latin America), Sky (Central) Goal TV USA (United States); in Africa it will be shown on SuperSport, covering the entire continent; and in Oceania on ESPN (Australia).
To ensure the best coverage, Mediapro has prepared the event in conjunction with over 300 professionals, using 10 mobile units, one with 3D technology, and an array of 34 cameras at the Camp Nou, 3 for Gol TV, which will offer its subscribers exclusive images.
Two of the cameras used will be at the goal line to check if the ball has entered the goal; there will also be a ‘high speed’ camera, a ‘steadycam’ and a camera giving views from above the stadium. It will also feature an Epsio application allowing a line to be drawn during the broadcast to mark offside.
