Belgacom has acquired the rights to the UEFA Champions League games. Until now, the competition was broadcast by cablers Telenet (Flanders) and BeTV (Walloon). In addition, free-to-air broadcaster 2Be will broadcast one game per day under the new arrangement.
The Dutch soft music channel Lite TV has launched on the UPC Nederland network. The channel was already available on Ziggo, Caiway, Delta and Telenet.
The Dutch municipality of Edam-Volendam has decided not to sell its cable network. Both Ziggo and UPC had expressed an interest. The network serves over 11,000 homes. Ziggo has been providing triple play services over the network since 2009 and will continue to do so.
