Portugal Telecom had reached 769,000 subscribers for its pay-TV service 'Meo' (delivered via IPTV and satellite) by the end of the third quarter of this year, having added 67,000 customers in the three month period.
The telco reports that more than 50% of its IPTV customers have already used the VOD element of the service on a paid basis, consuming an average of 2.3 movies per month. In the third quarter of 2010, the most watched movie was Couples Retreat, followed by The Princess and the Frog and Sherlock Holmes.
Total revenues across all operations for the third quarter of this year reached €952.2mn, up 0.3% year-on-year, while operating profits fell 20.2% by the same comparison to reach €164.5mn.
