TiVo will be demonstrating a suite of products for satellite, DTT and cable operators at IBC 2010, but only to delegates who receive a special invitation from the DVR supplier turned middleware provider.
Capitalising on the draw of hybrid television services, TiVo has secured contracts with the UK’s Virgin Media and with ONO in Spain. It also has business with US operators Comcast and DirecTV as well as an existing international presence in Australia, Mexico, Canada, and Taiwan.
“Our customers place great value in TiVo’s unique assets,” notes Naveen Chopra, senior vice president, corporate development & strategy, TiVo Inc. “We are known as the gold standard of television user interface, made possible by our unique experience operating a direct-to-consumer service in the US, and our extensive experience deploying the TiVo interface in a variety of set-top box and operator environments. As a result, we offer a proven track record of innovation around the consumer experience and a path for rapid development and deployment.”
TiVo will be demonstrating its Flash-based interface designed to blend linear television content with that pulled from the internet. It will also show search capabilities, interconnection with devices including the iPhone, iPad and Blackberry. In a nod to the enthusiasm for multiscreen television, TiVo also offers a ‘whole home solution’ that extends the ‘TiVo experience’ to non-PVR set-top boxes, personal computers and connected TVs.
Those without an invitation may care to try their luck on the stand of TiVo’s European partner, Conax.
