Shine format MasterChef finally took off on French network TF1 in its final episodes, with the series ending yesterday on 5.9 million viewers.
The final of the cooking competition show brought in a 28% four-plus market share and a 37% share of women under 50.
Since launching at the end of August, the French adaptation of MasterChef stalled at an average of around 4.4 million viewers. This translated into four-plus shares that were only just acceptable to the leading terrestrial channel, although it was sometimes beaten by M6 series Bones. Fortunately, MasterChef's market shares were much better among the ad-friendly demo of women under 50.
The show finally started to take off last month, climbing to 4.7 million viewers on October 7, 4.8 million on October 14, down to 4.6 million on October 21 and back up to 5.6 million last week. This has given the show a better chance of being renewed.
