ESPN has agreed a partnership with Sony Ericsson for its ESPN Goals service, a mobile application offering video clips of every Premier League goal.

Under the deal, the ESPN Goals application will be made available without charge for three months to any customers purchasing a Sony Ericsson Xperia handset (X10, X10 mini or mini pro) from now until November 26.

Launched in August, ESPN Goals utilises the broadcaster's rights deal to all mobile highlights from Premier League games for the next three seasons.

The app, which is available on Apple iPhone and Google Android-enabled devices, features a free service offering news and live scores, but the full video clips package costs either £3.99 a month or £29.99 for the whole season.

"There has been a dramatic growth in mobile content in recent years, with consumers demanding instant access to sporting highlights, we promise instant entertainment for all footie fans on the go," said Robin Ashton, ESPN Digital's commercial director.

"Sony Ericsson's collaboration offers another great way we can deliver fans the Premier League anytime, anywhere, all season long."

ESPN is also offering all Xperia handset owners the chance to 'win a footballer's salary' in a competition in association with TalkSport. The four-week contest involves Xperia owners choosing their favourite goal from three options selected by the radio station.

The weekly winners will each receive £1,000 for matching their predictions with the TalkSport experts. Everyone who entered will also be placed in a prize draw at the end of November to 'win a footballer's salary' of £100,000.

"Our approach is to provide our customers with instant mobile content, enhance their fan experience and bring them closer to the much-loved game," said Richard Dorman, Sony Ericsson's senior marketing partnerships manager.

"The retail offer ensures that purchasers of our Xperia range will reap the reward of free Premiership goal highlights with the additional bonus of the chance to win a footballer's salary."

Anthony Hogg, head of creative solutions at TalkSport, added: "Our live and exclusive rights put us at the heart of the very biggest fixtures in the Premier League every week.

"The partnership with Sony Ericsson running across all of our portfolio radio, online and Sport magazine, provides our growing audience with the perfect way to enhance their weekly football experience through ESPN Goals and the Xperia range."
