A controversial British TV film, in which Prince Harry is captured by the Taliban in Afghanistan, has failed to perform in the ratings.
Channel 4's 'The Taking of Prince Harry', which stars Sebastien Reid as the flame-haired royal, had been slammed by British armed forces officials for potentially undermining military efforts in the region. Yet they needn't have worried as the show raked in a mere 900,000 viewers last Thursday (Oct 21).
A channel spokesman had earlier argued the show posed serious questions on the prince's ten-week deployment in Afghanistan's Helmand Province in 2008. "The film raised important questions around whether we want to expose members of the Royal Family to the new kind of risks that modern warfare poses. Once viewers actually watched the programme they would have seen that this was a sober and responsible documentary."
